The Buddha Builder

This Blog is the great! I am a huge fan of the work this artist creates. I recommend visiting the Blog and checking out more work of art by the Buddha Builder!

What can I say?
along I've felt that images of Buddha should be more fluid and various than what we see in the marketplace today. This particular one feels like it has qualities of the Native American, African, Slavic and Asian traits all rolled into one. And his brief robe, fastened with three carpet tacks.

Amazing to me how different the piece feels after being fired. If you check a few posts back you'll see the white unfired version...

Bonsai Pots

I had some real fun yesterday making these Bonsai pots for my website. I am going to really try and focus on marking these Bonsai Pots on-line.

I wanted also show how I transfer the image on to the piece as well. I use this really sticky stuff that I get at Michael's craft store. We take the image and scan it in the computer and print it out in Photo Shop to the right size for that piece. I cut it out and smear the sticky stuff on with a pallet knife and then place the transfer on the pot. I then take a regular black ball point pen and trace the drawing onto the piece. After I trace it I yank off the transfer and take another tool that I get form Michal's and carve the design out. Much like a tattoo artist places the transfer on someones arm I place the transfer on my pottery. This give me unlimited possibilities with my art and I love to do it. Visit my custom urn page for more design ideas. I am adding to this page all the time as well.

I have to do some glazing today and I should have some new pieces to put on the Blog tomorrow. I updated my wholesale page for the website today as well.

Making the Jewish Star Urn again today.

I am also making the Jewish star urn that I have pictured here today. I had someone buy it on another urn site a couple days ago that my urns are on: Prestige Memorials

I really enjoy carving this particular design on this urn. I will have to do a video showing how I make the carvings on my art urns. This urn has a crackle finish to it and then I fill in the carved portion with a black enamel that is made specifically for ceramics. I hand carve every rock that goes on the top of the urn. This piece also has a wood called "red mahogany". It is a beautiful piece of wood and has some really nice shinny red tones to it.

I also have this particular urn advertised in the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. They purchased this urn from me about 6 months ago.

Handmade bonsai pots

This morning I have been investigating handmade bonsai pots online because Google says that I am getting a lot of hits for bonsai pots so I am going to try and make some today. I have made several for my home and garden. I really enjoy making bonsai pots because I love to garden, gardening helps me get centered and ready for the day. When I go water the plants and the yard in the morning I really feel like I have accomplished something that needed to be done and at the same time I feel like I am giving to the plants and they give back to me by producing beautiful blooms. We can learn a lot about plants not to mention they provide the oxygen that is so necessary for us humans here on earth. I have some beautiful wild flowers and different bonsai in my garden.
